Born in Santa Cruz, California, Russ entered his first race -- a 100-mile hare scrambles -- at nine years old. While riding a 250cc Greeves against Dick Mann in 1965, he won the Grand Prix at the age of 18 and later raced in the first motocross held in the United States. Sponsored by Husqvarna in 1969, he raced with the Husky team in Europe for two years and upon his return, became a Suzuki rider. Russ founded the first motocross racing schools in the United States with help from Suzuki and has trained thousands of racers.

Known as "The Man," Rodger posted 36 500cc Motocross Grand Prix wins, five 500cc Motocross World championships, and four Trans-Am Motocross championships during his racing career. He was also a member of six winning Belgium Motocross des Nations teams and a Gold Medalist in the International Six Days Trial. In 1969 Rodger won for Belgium its first Motocross des Nations victory in 18 years. He was among the first to promote motocross in the United States, and in 1994 was the first foreign-born rider to be inducted into the Motorsports Hall of Fame. photos >

By age 13 Jim had competed in hare scrambles, hill climbs, flat track, and motocross. He rode as a privateer on a Bultaco in 1972, finishing 5th in the 500cc Championship. Selected to the first AMA team to the Motocross des Nations, he raced in Europe for two seasons and was the first "non-European" to win trophies at the event. Jim received the AMA Most Popular MX Rider Award in 1973 and continued to race in the world championships in Europe for three more years. He won the first indoor supercross in 1974. Jim finished 7th in the world championships in 1975 and 4th the following year. After switching to Honda in 1977, he finished that season 2nd overall in supercross and 3rd in the 250cc series. He ended 1978 in 5th place, retired from racing in 1980, and later founded a successful riding school. He was killed in 2006. more > more > photos >

As a young boy, Marty began racing in the desert near his San Diego home and at 14 was racing motocross. He became a Honda factory racer in 1974 and rode his first full season in the newly-created 125cc National Championship. He won the first race and eventually became the youngest rider at that time to win an AMA Motocross championship. The following year, with the Honda team he won six of seven events by the largest margin in motocross history. Marty crowned his 1975 season by winning the inaugural 125cc U. S. Gran Prix and repeated the feat in 1976. He conquered the AMA 500c Motocross championship in 1977, and retired from racing in 1981. more > photos >
