Carroll Resweber more >
At age 16, Carroll acquired his first Harley-Davidson 80-cubic-inch 'Knucklehead' and a year later began racing on dirt tracks. He won his first AMA Grand National in 1957 and followed up with four more consecutive Championships, 1958-61. While well on his way to posting a fifth Grand National in 1962, a near-fatal accident abruptly ended his racing career. After recuperating for two years, he retired from the sport and resumed a career with Harley-Davidson. Carroll signed his portrait at home in Port Arthur, Texas. photos >

Bart Markel more >
Bartlett David Markel became known as "Black Bart" because of his aggressive riding style. He became an expert rider in 1958 and earned his first national finish at the Peoria TT. The following year, he won four Top 10 finishes, was ranked 7th overall, and became a factory racer for Harley-Davidson. Although he recorded his first national win at the Peoria TT in 1960 and ended that year ranked 3rd overall, 1962 was considered his best season. He won six races that year and his first national championship. Scoring in 16 out of the 18 races, Bart won his second national championship in 1965 and a third the following year. He won five races in 1968 and placed 12th in his last national in 1972. He signed artist Harry Miller's original portrait of him during the 1999 Springfield Mile. photos >

Dick Mann more >
Dick earned his first national win at the Peoria TT in 1959. Within four years he had posted five podium finishes and in 1963, won his first AMA Grand National Championship. He helped pioneer the sport of motocross in the United States and was one of the few riders to race on the national level in dirt track, road racing, and motocross. His most rewarding national win occurred in 1970, when he rode the new Honda CB750 to victory at the Daytona 200 -- earning Honda's first win at an AMA National. Upon winning his second AMA Grand National Championship at 37, Dick became the oldest rider in the series to win the title. Upon retirement in 1974, he had raced in over 230 AMA Nationals and recorded 24 victories. In 1995 he received the AMA Dudley Perkins Award, the highest honor bestowed by the Association, and signed his portrait at Daytona in 2001. photos >
