Within five years after becoming a factory rider for Harley-Davidson in 1981, Scott had broken most of the AMA's records. He won his first AMA Grand National championship in 1988 and earned four others. His nine titles and 94 national wins established him the AMA Grand National leader in championships and wins, confirming him as one of the greatest motorcycle racers in AMA history. In 1996, Davey made history with his back-to-back, Springfield Mile wins over the Labor Day weekend in Springfield, Illinois. In the history of the sport, only one other man has won two Grand National championships in the same weekend at the same track. He won the 883 Grand National title the following year with seven national victories and 11 podium finishes. In 1999, Davey, 29, was killed in a multi-rider crash during a heat race as the DuQuoin Mile began. more > photos >

Will began his career in 1984 and went on to become a five-time champion in the Motorcycle Asphalt Racing Series. He won his first National in 1989 and received the AMA Pro Sportsman of the Year Award in 2000. Off the track, Will was known for his humanitarian work with terminally-ill children. One of the most popular racers on the track, he died while racing in Sedalia, Missouri, in 2001. photos >
