The late publisher became a motorcycle enthusiast in the late 1960s as well as a goodwill ambassador for the sport. His international motorcycling trips with celebrities created a positive image for and increased acceptance of motorcycling as a lifestyle. He signed and dated this portrait at his ranch in southern Colorado two months before he died.

Erik raced motocross before becoming a road racing enthusiast in his early twenties. He launched his competitive career in AMA national road races during the 1970s and scored several Top 10 finishes. He founded the Buell Motorcycle Company and remained as Chief Designer after the firm was acquired by Harley-Davidson. Eric signed and dated this portrait in his office on June 6, 1993.
